How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives. - Annie Dillard
Well-being is defined as the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy.
In today’s hectic world, we rarely spend much time in this state. It seems as if around every corner, there is something that needs fixing urgently. We can’t wait for anything anymore, we must address everything in the moment it happens.
The well-being kit invites you to set aside time to regularly do things that give you that feeling of comfort, health, or happiness.
Reconnect with yourself
If you don’t know what that is because it’s been so long since you’ve allowed yourself the space to do something for yourself, take the time now to offer yourself the space to connect with your needs. Sit comfortably, relax your shoulders, and take a few deep breaths.
Sense what is happening at this moment in your body. What are the sensations? Do you feel tingling, dullness, or throbbing? Does it feel cold, hot, or like electricity is flowing through? Allow yourself to just allow yourself to be.
In this moment, think about what your body wants from you.
Some things that might come up:
A nice muscle massage
Time and space to paint, draw, or write
Starting a small garden
A regular visit to your favorite park
A longing for that hobby that you loved so many years ago
Finding a spot to watch the sunset
Forest bathing
even a long bath
It can be anything that really supports your well-being… where your nerves get a chance to relax… where you can experience moments of peace, joy, or rest.
Write those on the right-hand side of the card.
When you are ready to stop doing something from your stop-doing list and replace it with something you’ve identified above, go ahead and move a rock to the other side of the bowl. Celebrate by actually doing what you set out to do for your well-being. Check off your item.
Acknowledge the self-compassion that it takes to treat yourself like you would treat others. Bask in the beauty of your own love for yourself. Your gift to yourself for not letting back in what doesn’t serve you is those moments of joy or relaxation. Endeavor to do these more often for balance.
